This drawing was inspired by the proud history of the Philadelphia Flyers and its strong fanbase.  The piece captures the feeling of being a Flyers' fan on game day as fans walk toward both the Spectrum (left) and Wells Fargo Center (right). Ghosted in the sky above the arenas are eight of the many great players that have captured the hearts of Flyers' fans since their inaugural season in 1967.  From left to right: Bobby Clarke with the Stanley Cup, Bernie Parent, Bill Barber, Mark Howe, Ron Hextall, Eric Lindros, John Leclair and Claude Giroux.  Fan jersey numbers pay tribute to these players as well as many more of the greatest to ever don a Flyers' jersey.  Jersey designs reflect all incarnations throughout Flyers' history with appropriate player numbers for each design.  Fred Shero welcomes fans to the Spectrum on the left, standing in front of his chalkboard on which he wrote those now famous inspirational words before a game on May 19, 1974.  The Flyers won that game and with it the first of their two back-to-back Stanley Cup Championships!  Next to Fred, stands a statue of Kate Smith, whose rendition of "God Bless America" (played occasionally before Flyer home games) is seen as a good luck charm by the Flyers.  Prior to singing live at Game Six of the 1974 Stanley Cup Finals, Kate's Flyers' record was 36-3-1!  The statue was erected outside the Spectrum in 1987.  Standing in the center of the artwork is a Broad Street street sign.  Both arenas were constructed at 3601 Broad Street South.  Combined with their ferocious play in the 1970s, the Flyers' earned their nickname (and the title of this artwork) "Broad Street Bullies".  One of the most notable enforcers in Broad Street Bullies' history, Dave "The Hammer" Shultz is honored by a fan wearing his number 8 on the right and carrying Dave's single "The Penalty Box" which was a local hit in the mid 1970s.  Dave holds the NHL record for most penalty minutes in a season with 472 penalty minutes during the 1974-1975 season.  The much loved, "Legion of Doom" line (Eric Lindros, John Leclair and Mikael Renberg), which dominated games physically between 1995 and 1997, is honored by three fans wearing the same black jerseys (one wearing a Legion of Doom hat) on the right side of the artwork.
